BERRYVILLE -- Nearly 1,800 customers of Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation were left without power briefly Monday night, after a transformer at the company's Cisco Road substation failed.
Company spokeswoman Nancy Plagge said 1,793 customers had been affected by the outage, which occurred around 11:30 p.m.
Work crews restored service to 605 customers within 34 minutes by redirecting power from another substation, Plagge said, and the remainder were brought back on line by 1 a.m.
Plagge said the company had not yet determined what caused the transformer to fail. The Cisco Road substation was supposed to be back in service Tuesday -- with a temporary transformer being installed this afternoon.
