My daughter, Vicky VanderHorn , and I recently returned from a ten day cruise aboard the Emerald Princess, cruising the Caribbean. The ship was fabulous and had all the amenities cruise ships have, including food, great employees, shopping, and anything a person could want on a vacation. We also were able to take three off-ship land tours, and with the help of Vick's right arm, I was able to make the long walks to and from the piers for these trips.

One of the highlights of our trip was finding the first night one of the best entertainers I have ever seen. He is Kory Simon, a piano guru who was a fantastic pianist, but also has such a talent for entertaining everyone. We found that for ten nights it was necessary to get to the lounge where he was playing (one of the big lounges on the ship) at least an hour before he started his set. The second night, during a sing-along, he heard Vick's voice and said she had a nice voice. The next night, he asked if she would sing a song for him. After his second set that night, with much persuasion from him, she consented to sing and he talked to her a bit and got her key (or whatever as I am not a singer) and then she sang"Over the Rainbow" and did really well with lots of applause. Unfortunately, we did not have a camera along with us, so no picture, but a great experience for Vick.

For the rest of the trip, we always had to time our evenings for dinner, going to the great shows every single night (and then a little of "my time" as most of you know), and then to make his show. Two nights, we even had to stay for his late shows until almost midnight.

If anyone wants to take a peak at Kory Simon, you can find all kinds of things about him on Google. It will be worth your time to take a look at him.

All in all, at my age, I want to say this was one of the best "vacations" I have ever had, but after eleven nights away from home, I am most greatful to be home in Holiday Island and all the nice people I have made friends with the last twenty years.

Sincerely,

Mary McCumpsey
