Playwriting workshop offered this weekend

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

EUREKA SPRINGS -- Accomplished playwright Keith Scales will teach an all-day workshop on writing for the stage on Saturday from 9-4. The workshop will be held on the fourth floor of the Crescent Hotel in the Faculty Lounge, and the cost is $45.

The workshop will focus on what makes a good play and will concentrate on basic, crucial concepts that must be understood by any playwright. Differences in writing for the stage versus the page will be examined.

Born and raised in London, England, Keith Scales, AEA, AFTRA, SAG is the recipient of many awards and fellowships as a writer, actor and director. He has acted in more than 200 plays and directed nearly 100 productions in professional regional theatre. From 1993 to 2009, he served as artistic director of the Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon, for which he developed English versions of 16 ancient Greek plays. Several of his original plays have received full productions. In 2011 he relocated from the Pacific Northwest to Eureka Springs to concentrate on the creation of original works for page, stage and screen.
