Green Forest man dies in motor vehicle accident

A Green Forest man was killed in a vehicle-versus-semi-truck accident on U.S. Highway 62, west of Green Forest on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 2:24 p.m., a truck driven by Shannon Pharis, 52, of Green Forest, was traveling east bound about 1.5 miles west of Green Forest when the wreck occurred.

Pharis lost control of the vehicle and crossed the centerline hitting a semi-truck head on, according to an accident report issued by the Arkansas State Police.

The driver of the semi-truck, Edward Ness, 51, of Greenbrier, was traveling westbound when his vehicle was struck head-on. His passenger Michelle Ness, 44, of Greenbrier, was injured in the accident and transported to Mercy Hospital in Berryville. Her status was unknown as of press time.

Safety harnesses were in use by all parties at the time the accident occurred, the report said.
