State's CofC chief hails Congressman Womack
With last minute action, Congress finally took the necessary steps to avoid going over the Fiscal Cliff, preventing the largest tax increase in American history.
While not perfect, the legislation passed by the House and Senate prevented scheduled tax increases on 99 percent of American households, permanently patched the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), and provided critical tax certainty for entrepreneurs and business owners.
I was pleased to see that Third District Congressman Steve Womack of Rogers recognized the incredible damage that going over the Fiscal Cliff would have done to our economy, and that he supported this important piece of legislation.
While much more work must be done to bring our nation's fiscal house in order -- including addressing our government's unsustainable spending problem -- averting this crisis was an important and necessary first step.
I applaud Congressman Womack for his leadership and foresight on this issue, and for making the right decision not only for Arkansas, but for America.
