Cats fall on road in 1-4A
PEA RIDGE -- Berryville fell to 10-6 overall and 1-3 in 1-4A Conference with a 46-42 loss at Pea Ridge Friday night.
Donnie Hoppe led the Bobcats with 16 points while Austin Carr finished with 10.
"They are the best team in the league," Berryville coach Brent Compton said. "We played about as well as we could and had a chance to win it at the end but came up short."
Berryville trailed 44-42 with less than a minute left in regulation with possession but failed to convert on the offensive end of the floor. Pea Ridge converted two free throws at the other end to seal the win.
"We missed our shot and they made theirs," Compton said. "But I am pleased with the way we competed. We guarded well and held them to 46 points, which is pretty good."
Berryville will attempt to move up in conference standings with a division game against Lincoln tonight at Bobcat Arena. The Cats are currently tied for sixth in the league while Lincoln (2-2) is tied for third.
"They are a very good team," Compton said. "Every team in this conference is good. And we have played the top four teams so far. We have competed well in all of those games. We just can't get over the hump. But I don't think we are the team anyone is going to want to play come tournament time."
Josh Morrell added seven points for Berryville while Jeff Adams had six and Rick Porter chipped in three.
