OMAHA -- Berryville improved to 2-1 Monday night with a 75-46 win over Lead Hill in the first round of the Omaha Border Classic.

Britni Smith poured in a game-high 19 points, pulled down five rebounds and swiped five steals to lead the Lady Bobcats to their second straight win.

"We definitely played our best game tonight, especially on defense," Berryville coach Daniel Cornelison said. "The score was not really indicative of how well we played. Defensively, we frustrated them all night long."

The Lady Cats jumped out to a 21-10 lead after the opening stanza and held a 37-22 lead at the break.

Cornelison said Berryville shot the ball well from the floor as nine girls scored four points or more.

Mackenzie Ruiz followed Smith with 11 points, Aleksei Smith and Allison Smith added nine each while Raphailla Harris and Hayley Skelton had six apiece.

Hannah Noble contributed with five. Sara Johnson and Abby Teague chipped in with four each.

Johnson and Aleksei Smith also pulled down five rebounds each.

The Lady Cats continue tournament action Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. against Bergman in the semifinals. Cornelison said the semifinal matchup could be the game of the event as the teams are evenly matched.
