Berryville cross country preps for state meet

HUNTSVILLE -- Berryville's cross country team mounted a strong charge at the Mountie on Tuesday as the junior high boys and girls took top honors.

Andrew Galacia, Alli DePew and Oliver Perez earned top finishes in their respective divisions. Galacia outpaced the field, finishing the 2-mile layout in 11:31. DePew made the same journey in 12:41.

Perez continued his strong performance with a time of 17:17 in the 5K distance. Ally Teage, who placed 10th with a time of 23:13 in the 5K and Perez joined Kevin Maldonado on the All-Conference team.

Five starters earned medalist honors as Perez was joined by Elijah Smith with an 18th-place finish and a time of 19:27.

Teague was joined by Misty Rhymer (23:50), Gail Cisco (24:22) and Ashleigh McCullough (24:23).

Galacia led a pack of Bobcats in the junior high event. flowed by Jacob Johnson, Gaven Maxwell, Antonio Galdamez, Jesse Diaz, Luke Sugg, Aaron Cisco, Conner Wright, Curtis Worley and Jamos Warren.

DePew finished ahead of Samantha Preston, BaiLee Girouard, Nora Walker, Laralyn Koster, Mary Kennedy Jackson, Claira Watson, Karrisa Sperduto and Jaiden Hutchison.

Berryville concludes the season Nov. 10 at the Class 4A state meet at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs.
