OAK GROVE -- The Oak Grove Fire Department will soon have a little more space to breathe, thanks to a $15,000 grant received last week from the State of Arkansas.

The grant, received through the Arkansas Rural Community Grant Program, will be used to build an addition to the Oak Grove Fire Department. The extra space will be used for storage, according to the governor's office.

Local officials accepted the money at an Oct. 25 awards banquet in Little Rock.

The program, administered jointly by the Arkansas Department of Rural Services and the Arkansas Rural Development Commission, doles out awards in three cycles each year.

Oak Grove was one of 19 rural communities to receive awards this grant cycle, totaling $178,934.34.
