Carroll County waste authority lauded for recycling education

Carroll County Solid Waste Authority employees Gary Gray and Bryan Launius accept the "Recycling Program of the Year" award from Bobby Fanning, awards chairman for the Arkansas Recycling Coalition. The award was given on Sept. 13 at the coalition's annual conference and trade show, in Little Rock.
CARROLL COUNTY -- The Carroll County Solid Waste Authority has been recognized for its recycling education program.

The Arkansas Recycling Coalition presented the authority with the 2012 "Recycling Education Program of the Year Award" on Sept. 13 at its annual conference and trade show.

According to a press release issued by the coalition, the waste authority won the award for an educational trailer they created this year.

Waste Authority Director Phil Jackson developed the trailer to fill a need for education within the authority, according to the release.

The traveling road show visits schools and organizations within the county, showing visitors a video explaining the how, where, and why of recycling.
