HARRISON -- Green Forest improved to 7-4 overall with a four-set win over 5A Harrison Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers used a quality service game from Keylen Bell and an overall quality team effort to pick up the non-conference win. Bell finished with 10 aces in the four games, adding seven digs to the stats.
"Keylen really came through tonight with her serves," Green Forest coach Trista Killingsworth said. "And as a while we really just hustled after every ball."
The Lady Tigers won the first game 25-22 before easing to a 25-15 win in the second. Harrison responded with a 25-21 win in the third before Green Forest closed the match with a 25-16 fourth game.
"I was pleased with the effort tonight," Killingsworth said. "We had to have some critical comebacks and the girls really focused on finishing it out."
After a road game against Blue Eye on Monday, Green Forest returns home for a conference tilt against Bergman in a Pink Out game Tuesday. Alpena currently leads the division with the Lady Tigers, Bergman and Valley Springs in a tight race for the following three spots.
Valley Springs will visit Green Forest on Oct. 4 while the Lady Tigers play road games against Bergman on Oct 11., and Alpena on Oct. 16 to conclude the regular season prior to the district tournament in Cotter Oct. 22-25.
"We have two very tough and critical weeks coming up as we round out the season and head into the district tournament," Killingsworth said.
