HOLIDAY ISLAND -- The Holiday Island Board of Commissioners will hold its regular monthly work session on Monday, Sept. 17, at 9 a.m.

On the agenda are the 2013 budgetary process and related scheduling needs, a discussion of a host for the campground and roof bids for the district office.

Also on the agenda will be procedures issues: deadlines for work sessions and the regular agenda and expectations for the manager's report.

The meeting will take place at the district office at 110 Woodsdale Drive. The public is welcome to attend.

  • The Camphosts of 5 years resigned Sept. 9. We have enjoyed our time at the HI Campground but after having a health scare this past season we have decided there are lots of places we haven't been to and we want to travel again. Thanks for the beautiful memories and awesome campers!

  • That makes my email retorts look a little vacant. Wasn't quite the story I was told.

  • The real story is.... for 5 yrs we have been the hosts of the campground...We have asked for things to be fixed...yard to be mowed, etc... nothing happened...so we stopped asking. This year the BOC got interested in the campground, a lot easier for them to focus on us instead of the Golf Course! LOL They have come around asking questions that we have patiently answered. Kenny even filled out a form letting them know all the problems here. NOTHING has been done all summer!!! They pay us $400 a month and the contracts says we are to be available 5 hours a day for 7 days a week. The phone has an answering machine. IF someone leaves a message and we can understand the phone number, we return the call. We get a lot of calls with nobody there so we keep the call screen turned up so if we hear someone who wants to reserve a spot, we most definitely answer. Are we here 24/7 yeah sometimes we are but we are available in the evening to help RVers park and hook up. My husband has even parked some campers himself. We have taken people to fayettville to the Washington Regional Hospital when the spouse had a heart attack. I drove that after midnight and stayed there with her until 6 am when the doctor told her he had her husband was stable. I drove her back to the campground so she could get her vehicle and drive back to Washington Regional Hospital in the daytime. These RVers were from out of state. We have driven a young lady with a baby to Branson to meet her folks after she and her boyfriend had a disagreement. The poor thing could have gotten hurt or the baby hurt but instead of calling the law we took her to meet her family!

  • The campground is for property owners and their visiting guest, as I understand. I believe as with the golf course, there are restrictions as to who, and who can't use these facilities. I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong. That being said, then we need to by regulations/covenants, and by due process, improve the campgrounds and open the area to the public. The community needs to improve ways of drawing visitors to H.I., and this will only be achieved by offering diversity. Golf courses are a financial drain on our assessment fees and it is imperative for our elected community leaders, to explore new attractions, rather then slapping a club and golf ball in a visitors hands, and asking for a debit/credit card. In my opinion, I would caution, whatever the endeavor, do so according to the rules and regulations that govern a SID., to avoid legal complications.

  • Hey M (Hide behind) NRHI, you're not doing well in the "reading comprehension" dept. She said they took the spouse to the hospital, not the patient. Duh!

  • Just to put your mind at ease NRHI, the heart attack patient was flown by helicopeter from HI to the Hospital. His wife was driven by car.

    OK?

Hey NRHI, why don't you send your email address to me. You can get all these wonderful emails we send out. Promise, I'll keep your info secure. I think you can be a player!

  • Dear NRHI,

Washington Regional is in Fayetteville, not Eureka. How did you make the leap from a campground in HI to the Hospital in Eureka Springs? No one here mentioned Eureka. What?
