Preview of upcoming governmental meetings

CARROLL COUNTY -- The following government bodies will meet in the coming week:

Berryville School Board

The Berryvill School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 in the Intermediate School Cafetorium. Berryville School District Superintendent Randy Byrd said he would present the board with the annual "state of the schools" report, outlining changes and progress over the previous school year.

The board will also consider whether to approve the district, federal, and special education budgets for the coming year and several personnel issues.

Green Forest School Board

The Green Forest School Board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 in the Green Forest High School library.

Berryville City Council

Berryville City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 in Berryville City Hall. Council members will likely vote on the second and, possibly, third and final readings of an ordinance raising the voluntary cemetery tax. They will also hear from the city treasurer and police chief.

Carroll County Airport Commission

The Carroll County Airport Commission will meet at noon on Thursday, Sept. 20 in the Carroll County Airport terminal. The regular meeting will be preceded by a commission workshop at 11. Both sessions are open to the public.

Carroll County Quorum Court

The Carroll County Quorum Court will convene for its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21 in the Carroll County Courthouse in Berryville.

Quorum Court Water Committee

The Water Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21 in the Carroll County Courthouse in Berryville. The meeting will immediately precede Quorum Court.

Committee members are supposed to report on their research into the various methods of bringing water to unincorporated areas of the county. The committee is researching the rural water issue in the hopes of crafting an ordinance for referral to voters in 2014.
