GREEN FOREST -- The Green Forest School District has a new sixth grade science teacher.

Josh Moody was hired during a school board meeting on Tuesday. Moody taught at the Marvell School District and was a substitute teacher for the Springdale School District before coming to Green Forest.

Superintendent Matt Summers said Moody would bring a strong literacy background to the job.

"He was the right fit for our needs," he said.

Twenty three people applied for the position, and 12 were interviewed before the board chose Moody.

He will fill the position vacated by Tina Burns. Burns was moved from science to art after former art teacher Warren Utsler resigned to become the facilitator for the Environmental And Spatial Technologies Initiative at the Eureka Springs School District.

Utsler had previously served facilitator for Green Forest, in addition to teaching art. Bradley James now serves in this position.
