The Eureka Triathlon returns to Holiday Island Aug. 10-12
HOLIDAY ISLAND -- Holiday Island residents need to know that traffic will be affected during The Eurekan Triathlon event, now in its second year. All legs of the Triathlon will be held in Holiday Island, with a 300-yard swim, a seven-mile bike ride and a two-mile run.
The event will take place over three days, From Aug. 10-12, but Holiday Island Fire Chief Jack Deaton has issued a statement detailing how traffic inside the community will be affected on Friday, Aug. 10.
The Point will be closed from 1 to 5:30 p.m. From 3 to 5:30 p.m., Bandy Drive will be closed from the Y near the Point to Buckskin. Buckskin will also be closed from Bandy to Shields drives.
Shields, Appaloosa, Lakeside, Horseshoe, Woodsdale and Bluewater drives will also have some delays as participants race through these areas, Deaton said.
Access to the Recreation Center will require parking behind the Island Room.
"Watch for traffic controllers, as they will be wearing either green or orange traffic vests," Deaton said.
He thanked the community in advance for its cooperation.
"This is another way to show people what a great community we live in."
The Eurekan will also include a bike tour and bike and foot races, with a portion of the bike event passing through Holiday Island on Hwy. 23 North on Saturday. The event will also affect traffic along other highways in Carroll County and Golden, Mo.
