Mercy's Lorie Allen passes certified coding exam

Thursday, July 12, 2012

BERRYVILLE -- Lorie Allen of Mercy Hospital Berryville recently attended a coding boot camp in preparation for her certified coding exam. Her hard work and perseverance were rewarded as she passed her exam with flying colors.

Allen was already a Registered Health Information Technologist, but now she is additionally a CPC-H, or Certified Professional Coder -- Hospital.

Certified coders demonstrate a strong working knowledge of medical codes which in turn means faster reimbursement and fewer denials.

Allen has been in the medical records profession since 1974 and has been employed at Mercy Hospital Berryville for 18 years. She resides in Metalton with her husband of 32 years, "Antler" Dan. Together they have two daughters and five grandchildren.
