A white male approximate 5'5" to 5'8" is seen on video surveillance provided by police as he steals dangerous narcotics and pre-bagged prescriptions from Smith's Pharmacy in Eureka Springs, police said. The burglary occurred last Thursday, June 14, around 8:20 p.m.
EUREKA SPRINGS -- Large quantities of fentanyl, a highly dangerous narcotic that can be fatal, and pre-bagged prescriptions were stolen from Smith's Pharmacy in Eureka Springs last Thursday night, said Eureka Springs detective Thomas Achord.

An investigation into the burglary and theft has revealed that a white male was seen on security video entering the east door of Hart's Family Center at approximately 8:20 p.m. and then went into the store janitor's closet.

Ten minutes later, the suspect was seen on Smith's Pharmacy video entering the shop through the ceiling tile.

From video analysis, detectives determined the suspect made multiple trips down the aisle on the east wall of the pharmacy.

"The suspect had his face covered with a dark shirt as he entered the pharmacy and he made an effort to stay out of view of the security cameras," Achord said. "As the suspect was attempting to exit through the ceiling, the shirt covering his face was removed and the camera catches a shot of his head from the rear and side."

Achord added the suspect had short blond hair and by comparing the suspect's height with the shelves in the pharmacy, police estimate the suspect is between 5 feet, 5 inches and and 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and 125 to 150 pounds.

Achord also police collected additional forensic evidence from the crime scene.

The suspect had entered the pharmacy's security system closet and also damaged the electronics to the pharmacy's computer, alarm and video systems in an attempt to disable the store's security devices.

Eureka Springs police reported the pharmacy's video survellience system was removed from its location, but the video hard drive was later recovered and analyzed.

"The suspect left the pharmacy through the ceiling and exited the building through the ceiling in front of the pharmacy's bulletin board," Achord said.

The Eureka Springs Police Department is actively pursuing all leads in this matter.

"Given the nature of the stolen narcotic, any assistance from anyone would be appreciated," Achord said.
