Eureka Springs School of Arts announces new scholarship

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Eureka Springs School of the Arts last week announced the establishment of the Patt Carmichael Scholarship, named for arts advocate Patt Carmichael, who supported ESSA for many years as a crusading volunteer and loyal member of the staff.

Her exuberance for the pursuit of artistic endeavors was exemplary ESSA officials said. Always encouraging to others, she brought instructors and students to the school and helped create a nurturing and joyous atmosphere.

The scholarship, created after Patt's untimely death in 2011, allows others to carry forward her vivid legacy of supporting the arts.

Each year, one deserving person is chosen as the recipient for a full ESSA workshop.

For 2012, a scholarship will be awarded to one individual in the medium of two-dimensional art.

ESSA is now accepting applications for the program and scholarship.

Also, anyone who would like to contribute to the Patt Carmichael Scholarship Fund may do so online, by telephone, or mail. Visit ESSA online at, in person at 15751 Highway 62 West in Eureka Springs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or call 479-253-5384.
