Residents of Green Forest are under a boil order after a 12-inch main water line broke Saturday.

According to Public Works Director Buddy Fry, the first calls came in at about 2:30 p.m. Workers then had to locate the break, which was determined to be "where the line came down off the mountain, just before it reached the Tyson plant." Fry said.

Once the break was found, it was isolated and had been patched by about 10 p.m., he said.

After that, the line was flushed out.

There was no sign of any contamination, Fry said, but the city was placed on the precautionary boil order.

Fry said that water samples are at the lab now, and that results should be in by 7 a.m. Monday. If those come back normal, the boil order may be lifted.

Watch on Monday for continuing details as this story develops.
