EUREKA SPRINGS -- It's often the most unassuming people you know are the one that surprise you most when you hear the words, "Did you know that he (or she) has a black belt?"

In the case of the quiet-spoken Joe Reece of Berryville it's not just one black belt he has earned but two.

In a presentation last week at Greg Bartlett's dojo Reece received his second black belt, this one in ninjutsu, an oriental martial using weapons, such as swords, bo staffs, throwing stars, and such.

Reece has been practicing martial arts for over four years. "What drew me to start was I wanted the exercise," he says. "Sitting in a chair all day and you tend to graduate to a marshmellow... and I didn't want to be a marshmellow."

Reece's first black belt is in jujitsu. "Besides self-defense jujitsu is good for eye-hand coordination."
