Voter registration deadline April 23

Monday, April 16, 2012

BERRYVILLE -- The deadline to register to vote in the May 22 preferential primary election is approaching quickly. Anyone new to the state of Arkansas or not currently registered to vote here must register by Monday, April 23.

According to Carroll County Election Coordinator Bethe Henley, people already registered to vote in Arkansas can register in Carroll County with a visit to the office of County Clerk Jamie Correia by May 18.

All registered voters in Carroll County will have new voter registration cards sent to them soon. The cards can be expected to start arriving in mailboxes by Friday, April 20. Registered voters who haven't received a new card by April 30 should contact the county clerk's office at 423-2022 to verify the county has their correct address and that they actually are registered to vote in the county.

People should not assume they are registered, and are encouraged to verify they are registered with a visit to www.voterview.org.

With changes to House, Senate and certain JP districts, along with other basic changes due to redistricting, all registered voters in the county should expect some changes this election. Some voters can expect more changes than others.

The election commission will be conducting the public testing of voting equipment at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 19.
