GF Farmers' Market prepares for 3rd season

GREEN FOREST -- 2012 will be the third season for the Green Forest Farmers' Market, and organizer Britni Rexwinkle hopes it will be the biggest year yet for the growing market.

2011 was a tough year for farmers in the Ozarks with the hot and dry conditions spoiling the growing season for many local favorites. Hopes are high for 2012.

Vendors from all over Carroll and the surrounding counties are welcome to sell at the Green Forest Farmers' Market, and thanks to changes in laws recently, it isn't only produce that can be sold, but baked goods and jams and jellies are welcome again this year as well.

Another plus that Rexwinkle is happy about is the venue. The Green Forest Square is undergoing a big face lift right now. New sidewalks that are now compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act that better accommodate wheelchair access, will be combined with new flower beds and a flood of TLC to be provided by the Carroll County Master Gardeners will make the square and the farmers' market in Green Forest the place to be on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 12:30.

If you or someone you know would like to be a part of this exciting season at the Green Forest Farmers' Market, you are welcome to attend the organizational meeting on Wednesday, April 18 at the Country Rooster at 10 a.m.
