CARROLL COUNTY -- An 18-year-old Texas man has been transported to Carroll County to face felony rape charges.
Peter Castillo Campos allegedly raped a pre-teen girl in her bedroom late at night while staying with her family in their Carroll County home, according to court documents.
Campos reportedly told her that if she said anything, something bad would happen and she stayed quiet for nearly a year.
The alleged crime surfaced some 10 months later when her family announced plans to visit Campos and his family, who had moved to Texas.
According to court documents, it soon became apparent to the victim's family that she did not want to go, and when questioned, she revealed the alleged rape.
Authorities were notified and interviews and medical examinations conducted. An affidavit for his arrest was issued and Campos was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center on March 27 to face the Class Y felony rape charge.
The following day his bond was set at $50,000.
