Proprietor Rochelle Bales, assisted by Tracy Mayo, opened the bakery on March 20 and word spread so fast they've barely been able to keep the shelves stocked.
"We intend to bake bread and rolls and breakfast items, but we've been too busy to take the time to add them. Our ovens have already been going non-stop all day long since the day we opened," Bales said.
Currently, the bakery features a plethora of sweet, original delights with plenty of gluten and sugar-free options. From Red Velvet brownies to giant Dreamsicle cupcakes and cakes made to order, the staff keeps the ovens and frosting mixers humming.
Bales and her sister, Sherri Bales-Dunn, also make and sell original jewelry, hence "Bakery and Blingery." Beverages include coffee, orange green tea and other flavored teas as well as lemonade.
Bales was executive chef at the Dawt Mill resort in Missouri for 12 years, and has been baking professionally for 25 years. Mayo owned a bakery in Mountain Home for several years, and is also on the kitchen staff of Simply Scrumptious Tea Room.
Both are relatively new Eurekans, having been here for about a year and a half. They're assisted by significant contributors David Stephenson and Carolyn Verheye.
Response so far has been overwhelming; the store opens at 7:30 a.m. except for Tuesdays, and currently stays open hours past the "official" 6 p.m. closing time to accommodate patrons. For more information, phone (479) 363-6576.
