Pesticide training April 5

Friday, March 30, 2012

The Carroll County Extension Service has a Private Applicator Training Workshop scheduled for Thursday, April 5, beginning at 6 p.m. Space is limited so please call (870) 423-2958 to reserve a seat by April 4.

Attending one of these training workshops is required by the Arkansas State Plant Board before a person can obtain a private applicators license. The certificate of training is good for five years. An agricultural producer needs the private applicator's license to purchase restricted use pesticides including those commonly used to control pasture weeds. Some of these are Weedmaster, Grazon and 2,4-D.

There is a $10 fee for taking the class which will be collected at registration.

The training is designed for the owner or operator of farms and ranches. Homeowners and home gardeners are not required to have a license if they purchase small quantities of certain pesticides. These are the ones found in the garden section of hardware and other stores. Home gardeners are welcome.

For more information, contact the county extension office at (870) 423-2958.
