Opera guild membership meets March 25

Thursday, March 22, 2012

The Eureka Springs Opera Guild will hold its annual membership meeting on Sunday, March 25, at 3 p.m. in the Conservatory of the Crescent Hotel. Anyone interested in opera, Opera in the Ozarks, vocal performance music or wishes to learn about the functions of the guild is invited to attend.

There will be a brief meeting, refreshments, and a vocal music performance by two singers who have recently auditioned for Opera in the Ozarks. Tenor Jonathan Ray and Baritone Darren Drone will offer selections from this season's operas. Both young men are studying at Arkansas Tech University.

Ray will sing "Che gelida manina" from Puccini's La Boheme. Drone will sing "Der Vogelfaenger bin ich ja" from Mozart's The Magic Flute. The program will end with the duet "It Would Have Been Wonderful" from Sondheim's A Little Night Music.

Opera Guild memberships are $10 annually. Members promote and support Opera in the Ozarks through many activities throughout the year and during the opera season. In addition to performing many functions supporting Opera in the Ozarks, the members provide funds for scholarships for aspiring singers and musicians through membership fees, fund-raising efforts, and donations.

Everyone is welcome and invited to join. For information call (479) 253-7296.
