Freakin' Eurekan kicks off racing season at Lake Leatherwood

Sunday, January 29, 2012

Eureka Spring's first footrace of the year dashes along the challenging course at Lake Leatherwood Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m.

The race takes place in any weather, along the same course every year, unless the trail is snow-covered, which happened in 2011. In most years, the weather is good, with temperatures in the mid-40s.

Roughly 100 runners participate in the 15K race each year, mainly from Arkansas. The proceeds from the 2012 race will benefit the University of Arkansas Cycling Club.

Participants may register at active.com until midnight Thursday, Feb. 9, or in person at Fleetfeet in Fayetteville, until closing time the day prior to the race.

Entry fees are $35 online, or $40 at Fleetfeet and on race day (8-9:30 a.m.)

More information is available from russ@fleetfeetfayetteville.com or by calling the store at (479) 571-8786. Door prizes and food will be available.
