CAPC Chairman finance director
EUREKA SPRINGS -- Mike Maloney, Executive Director of the City Advertising and Promotion Commission, announced at a special meeting Dec. 9 that Rick Bright, sitting chairman of the CAPC, had been hired as the new finance director.
After accepting Bright's resignation, commissioners voted Charles Ragsdell in as chairman.
"It's what I do. It's what I enjoy," Bright said. He had already been doing the work of handling the finances while serving as the Interim Executive Director before Maloney was hired.
In addition, Bright said he keeps books for small businesses and organizations in town.
"It's the perfect fit for me. It still allows me to be involved in CAPC. As you know, my wife Dee and I are all about what's best for Eureka Springs," he remarked. The Brights own the Hideaway Bed and Breakfast in Eureka Springs.
Bright has a background in QuickBooks and Peachtree Accounting, two requisites for the position, and also studied Emergency Medicine at Wichita State.
Commissioner Butch Berry pointed out that now CAPC needs to find a replacement for Bright on the commission. The individual needs to be involved in the tourism industry.
