BV chamber angling for top chili prize
BERRYVILLE -- Members of the Berryville Chamber of Commerce are honing their cooking skills in an effort to capture top prize money in a chili cook-off that is slated for Saturday, Oct. 15, in Branson, Mo.
According to Chamber Director Ginger Oaks, they will be competing against 11 other nonprofit teams for the $3,000 top prize, $2,000 second place win, or $1,000 third place prize. The best decorated booth also wins money, she said.
Their winnings, she said, will go toward the chamber's Berryville downtown restoration project fund.
The cook-off is to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and it will be held at the Titanic Museum, on 76 Country Boulevard in Branson.
Oaks said they must make six gallons of chili from scratch and have it ready to serve to the public at noon. They are entering with their "Three-meat Heat and Sweet" chili, going up against firefighters who are known for their chili-cooking skills.
She said the chamber's participation in the cook-off will give Berryville "good exposure" deep in the heart of Branson.
