Ozark too much for Bobcats' offense
OZARK -- The Berryville Bobcats (0-5, 0-2) continued conference play on Friday, but the result was not one that the team had hoped for as they were defeated by Ozark 44-7.
The Bobcats played well and were in the thick of things, but the Bobcats gave up field position, which head coach Eric Daniel said can't happen.
"We played well, but we gave a short field to a good football team," he said.
Senior quarterback Daulton Lynn was back on the field Friday, but still has not fully recovered from a leg injury that he sustained a few weeks prior in Huntsville.
"He played pretty well," Daniel said of Lynn. "He's still not 100 percent, though."
Lynn was able to block an extra point as well as a field goal, and he had one carry on the night for seven yards.
Cody Powell, who has shared time at quarterback, went five-for-11 for 72 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Running back Ethan Chapin rushed for 62 yards on 11 carries. He also had a big night on the defensive side of the ball tallying seven tackles.
Jerry Valdez also had another good night as he finished with six tackles.
Moving forward, the Bobcats will look to cut out the mistakes and prevent handing the ball to their opponents in good field position.
Daniel has been pleased with the effort from his team this season and says that they just need to execute and play together.
The Bobcats will be at home on Friday when they take on Farmington.
