Varsity and JH Tigers travel, win
BERGMAN -- Trista Killingsworth's Lady Tigers traveled to Bergman on Monday night as the junior high won their match 25-11 and 25-16, and the varsity squad also left victorious as they defeated the Panthers 25-18, 27-25 and 25-23.
"We did our job on Monday night," Killingsworth said.
The team needed the win to pull even with Alpena.
The junior high once again pulled through, relying on one another, something that Killingsworth has been proud of as of late.
"They really played well together," she said.
Payton Watson had another good game, as did Harleigh Andrews, who had nine continuous points off of serves.
Her teammate Karen Salazar also had a productive night on the court as she tallied seven points off of serves.
Once again, the varsity team got contributions from multiple players, which has become a recurring theme.
Katelyn Goodman led the team with 14 digs and two aces; Shelby Horton finished with 11 digs, 14 kills and five blocks; Shelby Kilbourn had seven digs, eight kills and four assists; Kaleigh Evans had four kills; Vanessa Etchison finished the night with 14 assists; Tara Harrell had two digs and seven kills; Lindsey Savage finished with three digs and four kills and Jaelyn Anderson had three digs and nine assists.
The Tigers' next home game is scheduled for Oct. 3 when Blue Eye visits
