HUNTSVILLE -- The Berryville eighth grade Bobcats traveled to Huntsville on Monday and left with their first victory on the season as they defeated the Eagles 14-0.

"We didn't do a bad job for our first time out," head coach Don Earnest said.

The game was highlighted by the team's rushing attack.

Elijiah Smith scored on a 70-yard touchdown and Bryan King ran for a 58-yard touchdown.

"We moved the ball pretty well," Earnest said. "It was really a collaboration of the rushing attack and the offensive line.

The defense also held their own as they prevented the Eagles' offense from ever getting going.

"We played real hard and physical," Earnest said. "The kids flew around and hit people."

After going 2-8 last season, the team looks to lean on their defensive line, which according to Earnest, is a team strength. The next game is Sept. 26.
