Betty Lou Muhm
Betty Lou Muhm died in her home on May 30, 2011 in Torrington, WY.
A Celebration of Her Life was held June 11 at 2 p.m. at the Goshen County Library Annex, 2017 East A Street, Torrington, WY. No other services will be held.
Betty was born October 28, 1917, in Oklahoma City, OK, to John and Elizabeth Stucker.
She grew up in southeastern Kansas and attended Independence (KS) Community College.
She went to Torrington in the late 1930s and was employed as a bookkeeper at The Citizens National Bank, where she met Bob Muhm, another bookkeeper. Bob and Betty were married on May 11, 1941, and raised three sons. She lived in Torrington since the late 1930s, except for an eight-year interlude in Eureka Springs, AR.
Betty worked tirelessly supporting her family and raising her sons, imparting her good character and her pursuit of academic excellence. She was always a civic booster, supporting the Presbyterian Church, Eastern Wyoming College, and the Goshen County Library.
During retirement she enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, visiting her children and relatives throughout the U.S., traveling the world, going to Elderhostels, volunteering at the Goshen County Library, completing crossword puzzles and Sudoku, and winning any card or board game she could get others to play.
She is survived by sons John, Mike and Dan and their wives Margie, Susan and Cathy; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, and her sister, Virginia.
