Farm to table dinner celebrates local foods

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Carroll County Fresh, a sustainable agriculture initiative that aims to give the residents of Carroll County access to fresh, affordable, high-quality, locally-grown food and food products, is proud to announce a partnership with the Crescent Hotel and the Crystal Dining Room to bring the first Farm to Table dinner to Carroll County.

"As the local food movement grows across the country, Farm to Table dinners have become incredibly popular," says event organizer and CCF board member Andrew Schwerin.

"Typically, a favorite local chef might be invited to a particular farm to prepare a meal that showcases the foods grown on that farm. Our event will be a little different -- an evening at the Crystal Dining Room featuring foods from several local farms including organic, grass-fed beef, pasture-raised poultry, and the incredible summer bounty of our vegetable farms."

This special event will be held on the evening of Aug. 10, a Wednesday, and will begin at 5 p.m. with an open bar and appetizer in the Crystal Dining Room. At 6 p.m. the four-course dinner with wine pairings will commence. Featured farms and producers include Foundation Farm, Oak Hill Farm, Shady Grove Farm, Homestead Farm, Fiddlehead Farm, RP Organic Beef, and Roaring River Bread, Co., all farms and producers which attend local Berryville, Eureka Springs and Holiday Island Farmers' Markets. The event helps support the work of Carroll County Fresh and these and other local farmers. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online at, or at several local businesses including The Eureka Market, Community First Bank (in both Eureka and Berryville), and The Eureka Springs Farmers' Market at Pine Mountain Village on Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to noon.
