Artists' small paper works sought

LITTLE ROCK -- The Arkansas Arts Council is accepting submissions by Arkansas artists for the 25th annual 2012 Small Works on Paper exhibition. Works of art selected by a juror will be featured in a year-long exhibition that travels to 10 Arkansas communities. Deadline for entries is July 22. Artists may download the entry form at www.arkansasarts.org or contact Cheri Leffew, special events/program manager, at (501) 324-9767 or cheri@arkansasheritage.org.

Arkansas artists may enter up to three works of art on paper (no larger than 24 x 24 inches) for a fee of $10 per entry or $25 for three entries. Entries will be juried by Marcia Goldenstein, a prominent artist and art professor at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Works must have been completed within the last two years. Up to $2,000 will be available for juror-selected purchase awards, which become part of the Small Works on Paper permanent collection.

To be eligible to submit entries, artists must be members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, or they may join for free at time of entry. The Arkansas Artist Registry is a comprehensive online gallery of more than 500 Arkansas artists and their work. The registry serves as a valuable resource for member artists to market their work and to connect to collectors, curators or anyone searching for artists and their art. Membership in the registry, found on the Arkansas Arts Council's website at www.arkansasarts.org, is open to all Arkansas artists.

Artists whose work is selected for the 2012 Small Works on Paper exhibition will be notified in September. The exhibition opens at the William F. Laman Library in North Little Rock in January 2012.
