CERT program starts April 12

Friday, March 18, 2011

A Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course is scheduled to begin. The five-week session will get under way at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, at Chafin Station, also known as the Berryville Fire Station.

Established here eight years ago, the CERT program is designed to train local citizens to assist during disasters.

CERT's core principle is "neighbor helping neighbor," said Suellyn Fry, and its training includes first aid, search and rescue, psychology of a disaster and fire suppression.

The classes will be held Tuesday evenings at the fire station, except the final class, which will be an all-day Saturday session.

For more information, contact Fry at (870) 545-3317.
