Oh death, where is thy sting, oh grave where is thy victory? The grave had no victory here today.

Marlene June Major (nee Kaiser), 89 of Eureka Springs AR and formerly of Antioch, IL, passed from this life on earth to life eternal with her savior Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah on March 9, 2011.

Marlene was the oldest of three children born to Margaret (nee Steve) and Harvey Kaiser on June 1, 1921 in Bartlett, IL. After living her early life in Elgin, IL, she married her high school sweetheart Dick Major on May 17, 1942. In 1958, they moved to Antioch, IL. There, they raised two daughters, Martha Ann (Marti) and Sally Lynn. Upon retiring from Abbott Laboratories, Marlene and Dick moved to live in Eureka Springs near Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas.

During her retirement days, she was busy volunteering her time at "The Doggy Shop", the Humane Society's Thrift Store, and with First Christian Church on Passion Play Road. Living in the Grassy Knob Community, she kept busy with many new friends and neighbors. She and Dick were active during their retirement years with the Grassy Knob Volunteer Fire Department and Community Center. She also stayed active with the craft shows in the area. Dad did the woodwork and she stained the finished product.

She was preceded in transition by the love of her life Dick; her brother, Darwin Kaiser and both parents. She is survived by her sister Arleta Hein of Morton, IL; two daughters, Marti Suchsland of Eureka Springs and Sally Munda (Joseph) of Elmwood Park, IL. Also surviving her is her very favorite granddaughter Jodi Lynn Suchsland of Alvin, TX and her very favorite grandson, Paul Richard Munda of Elmwood Park. In addition, there are many nieces and nephews of whom she was so fond.

Memorial donations can be made to either First Christian Church on Passion Play Road in Eureka Springs, AR 72631, or to New Day Fellowship (meeting at the ECHO clinic) c/o Freeman Heights Baptist Church, 522 W. Freeman, Berryville, AR 72616. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
