Medical marijuana petitioners sought

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Arkansans for Compassionate Care will soon begin collecting signatures to place a statewide medical marijuana initiative on the November 2012 ballot. Anyone interested in helping with the signature collecting effort is encouraged to attend an upcoming training and informational seminar. The training will be held Friday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. at The Space, 2 Pine St., across from the Eureka Springs post office.

The seminar will familiarize volunteers with the legal requirements surrounding the state ballot-initiative process and with the specific language of the Arkansas medical marijuana initiative, to assist those circulating petitions in answering questions likely to be asked.

Getting a measure on the ballot and promoting its passage at the polls requires both a cadre of dedicated volunteers and considerable money. Those wishing to contribute financially to the effort can do so online at www.arcompassion.org. No amount is too great or too small. For more information, contact eureka@arcompassion.org.
