Lady Tigers protect record during Homecoming action

GREEN FOREST -- The Lady Tigers didn't let Homecoming on Friday, Jan. 11, distract them from the task at hand as they upped their record to 15-1 with a 46-28 victory over the Elkins Lady Elks.

The Tiger boys couldn't run with the fast-breaking Elks and suffered a 25-68 loss.

Senior Girls

14-8, 28-20, 38-24, 46-28

Nikki Mullen and Kaitlin Powell led the team with 23 and 10 points respectively, with Coach Kyle Farrar saying, "Homecoming didn't effect us. The kids were ready to play.

"Our defense shut them down, has done a pretty good job all year. They take defense to heart."

Elkins' Osburn caught the Lady Tigers off guard when she fired in 4 threes the first half, keeping them close.

"She caught us off guard, but she didn't score the second half," Coach Farrar noted.

The Lady Tigers are in a three-way struggle in conference play with West Fork and Greenland, with Lincoln also making a bid for top billing.

Scoring- GF- N. Mullen- 23; Kaitlin Powell- 10; Lindsey Savage- 5; 4's- Tara Mullen, Kodee Powell; Kara Heads- 2. ELK- Osburn- 12.

4-28, 19-43, 23-58, 25-68

"Elkins is a good team that fast-breaked a lot and out-shot our zone," Coach Jayson Lowery said. "Josiah Mullens hit some key baskets down low, and Kolby Burnett did a good job on the press helping get the ball down."

Burnett and Mullens led the scoring with 8 points each.
