The Eureka Springs High School boys won the Green Forest Holiday Tournament Saturday night, with a hard-fought win over Alpena, 50-44.

Alpena took a 37-35 lead into the last quarter, but Eureka Springs dominated on the boards in the fourth quarter. Nick Bower tied the game with a basket, then gave his team the lead, both baskets coming on assists from Briar Sebby. As Alpena was reduced to fouling to get the ball back, Sebby hit six straight free throws.

Sebby finished with 17 points, and Bower scored 16. Dustin Morrell had 7, and Jon Waite had 4.

Eureka Springs will play in the Holiday Hoops Tournament in Berryville next week. Their first game is at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28 against Waldron.

Lady Tigers win

Green Forest's Lady Tigers beat Omaha 51-33 in the second game Saturday night.

Nikki Mullen drove to the basket and drew a foul only 13 seconds into the game. She made the two free throws, then canned a three-pointer and snuck inside for a lay-up as she scored her team's first seven points.

After that, the outcome of the game was never really in question, with the Lady Tigers leading by 19-6 after a quarter, 34-20 at the half, and 41-29 aftre three quarters.

Mullen led the scoring with 16, followed by Kara Heads with 9. Kodee and Kaitlin Powell each had 7.

The Lady Tigers will not play again until Jan. 3, when they travel to Bergman for a rematch with the only team to beat them this year. Bergman beat the Lady Tigers in the finals of the Border Classic in Omaha Dec. 4.
