Ronald Gruwell, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was born September 13, 1939 in Iowa, a son of Francis C. and Freda R. (Pedersen) Gruwell. He passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 in his home in Berryville after a long battle with cancer at the age of 71.
Mr. Gruwell bravely served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a Supervisor for the Government fuel base at Point Malote, CA for thirty years. He also worked at Wal-Mart for 14 ˝ years. Ronald was of the Methodist Faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post #9.
On December 17, 1983 Ron was united in marriage with Bernice Jeanette Murray who survives him of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Traci & husband Hack Culling of Berryville, AR and Mary Gruwell-Horstman of CA; four sons, William B. Jr. and wife Kathy Changus of CA, Ken J. Changus of CA, Chuck Donaldson of CA and Chad A. Changus and fiancé Melissa James of Rogers, AR; daughter-in-law, Tami L. Changus of Berryville, AR; two brothers, Edward and Robert Gruwell both of IA; two sisters, Marilyn Marshall of CA and Leone (Polly) Maher of IA; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene Gruwell and one sister, Thelma Baysinger.
Visitations will be 5 until 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Brother Keith Butler officiating.
