Commission seeking input: Public hearing to be held on alternative water board
The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission is requesting comments to assist it in making a determination to approve formation of the proposed Carroll County Public Water Authority.
A public hearing on the proposed water authority's application will be held on Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Berryville Fire Department, 400 N. Main St.
Jimmy Jones had applied to create the CCPWA before the quorum court passed an ordinance creating a public facilities board to bring water to rural areas of the county.
Oral and written comments will be accepted at the hearing. In the interest of accuracy, written statements are preferred and will be considered by the commission if received at the commission's office by Oct. 29 at 4:30 p.m.
Copies of the application for formation can be obtained at 101 E. Capitol Ave., Suite 350 in Little Rock or call the commission at (501) 682-1611.
Proponents of the proposed water authority described the service area as extending to the Arkansas/Missouri state line to the north; the Carroll County Boone County line to the east; the Kings River to the west and the area north of a line approximately five miles south of U.S. Hwy. 62 on the south. The service area would exclude the cities of Berryville, Green Forest, Alpena and Oak Grove.
