Lady Bobcats scratch out win against Lady Highlanders
As Berryville and Eureka faced off again, the score wasn't nearly what the Lady Bobcats wanted. The Lady Highlanders put up quite a fight Tuesday night. They came ready to play, and it showed during the game.
The scores became closer and closer every match. At the end of one match the score was 25-23, Berryville barely coming out with the win.
Before the game Tuesday night, the Lady Bobcats were relaxed and came somewhat ready to play. But that all changed when they realized Eureka was staying with them. The Highlanders weren't going to take another beating like they did the previous week; they were determined to stay in the game.
Eureka served the ball very well and received a lot of Berryville's strong serves. Once the Lady Bobcats saw that, their attitudes changed and the "relaxed" side of the Bobcats turned straight into a "determined to win" attitude. (One they'll most likely need when they play Shiloh Christian Thursday, Sept. 2.) That attitude gave them their second win against Eureka.
Coach Kristin Whetham had this to say about the close game: "Eureka has improved, and we also didn't have some of our girls at the game. I think the girls figured out that they can't come in relaxed. They have to come in ready to play because teams that they expect to beat can beat them if they aren't focused."
Diamond Meza and Beth King had an overall good serving night, both scoring 8 points straight. A lot of credit should be given to the Highlanders though, because they came out for revenge and gave Berryville a run for their money. Luckily for the Bobcats, they were able to get focused enough to put another win under their belt.
In Junior High volleyball action, the Junior Lady Bobcats were able to defeat the Harrison Junior Lady Goblins for their first win of the season. "It was the first game of the season and they played great! I'm looking forward to the rest of the season," Coach Whetham said after the game. You can catch the Junior Lady Bobcats again when they face Prairie Grove Sept. 7 at 4:30 p.m.
