Gladys Marie Griffis, a resident of Green Forest, AR, was born September 2, 1918 in Osage, AR, a daughter of Thomas Tucker and Nora (Bishop) Bell. She departed this life Sunday, August 22 in Berryville, at the age of 91.

Gladys was a member of the United Methodist Church in Green Forest, a charter member of St. John's Auxiliary, one of the last WWI Widow's and a member of Easter Star. She worked in sales for Seitz Dry Goods in Green Forest, AR for many years.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Evva Bell of Green Forest, AR and Mary Bell of Woodstock, GA; two cousins; five nephews; five nieces; numerous great-nieces and nephews; numerous great-great- nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

On November 4, 1943 Gladys was united in marriage with Earl Taylor Griffis who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Finis, Troy, Garland, Truman and Pete Bell; and one infant twin sister.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel with Reverend Donnie Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the Dog Branch Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc. Memorial donations may be made to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 362, Berryville, AR 72616.
