Friday, July 30, 2010
A benefit concert, dinner and auction, dubbed "For the Love of Aiden," will we held Aug. 7 at the Alpena High School Gym in Alpena for the Carter family.

A burger or hot dog dinner kicks off the evening at 4 p.m., when a silent auction also begins.

At 5 p.m., One For All performs, followed by Cody Slaughter at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m. a live auction begins.

Auction items include two sides of beef with processing, a guided fishing tour, Branson and Eureka Springs vacation packages, two round-trip airline tickets and many other items.

There will also be a children's raffle, face-painting and door prizes.

On May 14, a driver crossed the center line and hit the Carter family vehicle head-on, killing their 3-year-old son, Aiden Nicholas Cole Carter.

His parents, Nick and Sissy, were seriously injured. Both are still undergoing physical therapy and have been unable to go back to work. The community got together to raise funds to help pay for living and medical expenses.

Admission at the door is $7 for adults and $5 for children 3-12.

Advance admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets can be purchased in Harrison at Apple Tree Preschool, Trenz, and A+Education; in Alpena at Kiddie Korral and Victoria's Closet; in Green Forest at B&C; and in Berryville at Community First Bank.
