Presiding as Mayor

Friday, July 23, 2010
Alderman Joel Gibson presided over Tuesday's city council meeting in Berryville while Mayor Tim McKinney was on vacation. Gibson assumes the post of acting mayor because of his seniority on council. He has served as alderman 18 years, ever since he was appointed to the position by McKinney in 1992. Gibson, who was born in the Dry Fork Community on Sept. 13, 1919, will be celebrating his 91st birthday soon. Gibson said he will be running for another term on council because there are some things coming up he would like to see through to completion. Tuesday's council meeting was short, less than five minutes -- but not the shortest, which clocked in at around 90 seconds. Anna Mathews / CCN
