Work to start on Carroll Road 70

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

The Arkansas State Highway Commission opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Carroll County, according to Commissioner Dick Trammel of Rogers and Carroll County Judge Sam Barr.

The purpose of the project is to resurface approximately four miles of Carroll Road 70. Hutchens Construction Company of Cassville, Mo. was awarded the contract at $448,800.

"This project will begin at Grandview and continue over to Pleasant Ridge," stated Judge Barr.

Trammel noted that the county road project is funded through the State Aid Road Program established by the legislature and administered by the State Aid Division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

This program provides approximately $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist counties with projects of their choosing on the county road system.

Trammel said work could begin on the project in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in the fall of this year.
