Helen Marie McCoy
Helen Marie McCoy, 71, Ozark, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, in St. John's Hospital. She was born October 10, 1938 the daughter of John Hair and Ruby (Smith) Coulter. On March 5, 1975, she was united in marriage to Joe McCoy.
Helen chose a professional career in nursing and began working at a downtown hospital in Kansas City. She later became an RN and was presently employed with St. John's Marion Center, where she cared for patients the past 28 years. She loved to read, enjoyed collecting angels, cooking and animals. Helen was especially fond of her two Yorkies, Muffin and Dixie, as well as her Siamese cat, Jacko and her barn cats. In 2004, Helen started Auntie Hammers Gourmet Salad Company and enjoyed selling her product to other consumers. She also enjoyed attending Selmour Baptist Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her father, John Hair, step-father, Carl Coulter; and two infant brothers.
Helen is survived by her husband, Joe; her mother, Ruby Coulter; two sons, Kelley Hill of Kansas City, MO, and Stephen Hill and wife Sherry of Camdenton; three step-children, Mike McCoy and wife Libbi of Nixa, Robin McCoy of Springfield and Tim McCoy of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Stephanie Adams, Sheila Cronk, Melissa Fandrich, Robbie Hill and Travis Hill; eight step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ola Mae Carter and Marjie Medford and husband Chuck; sister-in-law Betty Brown; many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Josh Hall officiating. Burial followed in McCoy Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 3, in the funeral home.
