ECHO clinic to invite public to tour facility

(EUREKA SPRINGS) - The Eureka Christian Health Outreach (ECHO) Clinic will open its new facility at 4004 East Van Buren in Eureka Springs on Thursday, May 6, and is inviting the public to an open house and tour from 3 to 7 p.m. A formal ribbon cutting will be held at 5 p.m.

The clinic was previously housed in the gym at the Faith Christian Family Church in Eureka Springs, but last year the board obtained land and began plans for building a facility, funded by donations.

The clinic is operating by appointments, said Administrator Suzie Bell. Potential patients must first go through a screening process to see if they are eligible for the clinic's services. The office is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. to process eligibility.

"This allows patients to call ahead, arrange for an appointment, and work out all eligibility issues before clinic nights," Bell said. "Although this takes a bit of effort initially it has streamlined our clinic nights minimizing patient waiting time."

"ECHO is excited about our new location and our new facilities. Our open house will allow us to showcase our building, our services and our plans for added services as donations come in," Bell continued. "The love of Christ truly is the cornerstone of this clinic and is manifested through our hundred or so volunteers."

The new ECHO clinic sits adjacent to the recently opened ECHO Thrift Store which also features a huge used book section and gourmet coffee outlet.

"We've even got WiFi," noted Jay Ertel, ECHO treasurer.

"We feel very good about our new clinic," said Bill Ott, board president. "Since we started out here with basically just one big empty room, our new clinic has been designed to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of service to our patients."
