FAYETTEVILLE -- Eureka Springs' sophomore Lindsey Clark is a two-time state champion after having the winning throw in the Class 1A-4A shot put event at the State Indoor Track Meet on Friday.

Clark won the Class 2A shot put title last year as a ninth-grader after winning both the district junior high and high school shot put events.

Coach Ben Lairamore said, "She was the last to throw. I saw the measurements and said she could win this thing. They only got three throws and there was no finals. Her last throw was her longest."

Clark heaved the shot 32-feet, 1-inch, to take the title, adding to an impressive list for the sophomore.

Teams from Green Forest and Eureka tried to take some rust off at the indoor meet before the season starts on March 9 at Siloam Springs, with some competitors coming straight out of basketball to compete.

Nashville won the boys team division, and Mansfield the girls team division.

EUREKA SPRINGS

Senior Jacob Worley played in a five-overtime basketball game at the district tournament on Wednesday, then stepped on the runway Friday and finished 7th in the high jump out of 80 competitors.

"He cleared 5-8 and just clipped the bar at 5-10," Lairamore said. "Laura Winters was 10th in the triple jump at 29-7, just two inches out of the top ten, and was two feet further than last year."

Lairamore said Ariel Walker ran the 60m hurdles and "looked good," ran a 12.08. Nick Bower triple jumped and Peyton Troillett won his heat of the 60m dash in 7.80.

The 4x800m relay team ran a 10:52 with a new crew of Ian Reynolds, Philipp Oestmann, Keeton Boardman and Keegan Wilbur.

"The kids competed very well," Lairamore said. "We'll have more kids in track than we brought here, and we'll have more girls this year."

GREEN FOREST

Girls- The Lady Tigers brought a crew of 20, with Coach Jay Martin saying, "Overall, we competed pretty hard, but our conditioning was awful from the snow. They tried hard, but the conditioning is not there yet."

Katelyn Goodman finishing 5th in the triple jump at 30-4.5, and 7th in the long jump at 14-8.5, plus running a leg on the 1600m relay and in the 200m dash.

Jessie Kilbourn was 6th in the triple jump at 30-0.5, and ran on the 1600m relay and the 60m dash. Kristen Anderson ran the 1600m relay and the 60m hurdles, and high jumped 4-6.

Natalie Flippo ran a solid 6:40 in the 1600m run and finished 10th, with Sarah Rincon running the 3200m relay and 800 dash. Elisha Hankins threw the shot, Megan Newberry ran the 60 and 200m dashes, and Miranda Harp ran the 1600, 60m hurdles and long and triple jumped.

Boys- Coach Trista Killingsworth said, "We found out what we needed to work on and got some times. We took eleven boys."

Two consistent milers ran solid. Kenny Rangel ran a 5:08, and Martin Maravillas a 5:10. Martin also ran the 3200m race.

"I was proud of those times," Killingsworth said. "The winner ran 4:56 and we only had two or three in a heat."

The 4x400m relay team ran a 3:54, with Brian Badley, Tanner Marr, Mikey Saldano and Rangel running the legs.

Badley also ran the 60m hurdles, long jumped 19-2, and triple jumped 31 feet.

Cole Newberry ran the 200m dash and had a 60.2 in the 400m dash. Zach Wingo ran the 800m, Marr long and triple jumped, Colby Burnett pole vaulted, Ivan Barrios ran the 400m and high jumped, and Kyle McKelvey and Kaiden Breedlove threw the shot.
